Collaborative Divorce is an out-of-court process to support a family through divorce that utilizes an interdisciplinary team of professionals:
• Attorneys for legal guidance
• Mental health professionals for emotional support and communication skills
• Financial experts with a focus on neutrality
The goal of Collaborative Divorce is to provide a couple with the professional resources they need most during this difficult life transition.
Because it is not a public courtroom proceeding, this approach to divorce ensures greater privacy for all parties based on principles of respect and transparency. With no judge to make rulings, couples have complete control over all decisions and outcomes. All members of a Collaborative team sign an agreement stipulating the principles that guide the process. And all parties are actively involved in reaching solutions for their family’s needs and long-term health and welfare, both emotionally and financially.
As a Collaborative Divorce Coach, I work with clients to help them gain control over the overwhelming emotions inevitably triggered by divorce. We identify their goals for their divorce and work to prepare for meetings and to make decisions with a child-centered focus.
I can also assist parents in developing a comprehensive Parenting Plan which will serve as a road map for the co-parenting relationship. This reduces the potential for conflicts and protects children from being in the middle of any parental conflict and from the co-parenting relationship.
